Norristown middle school teacher, John Richards, has been sentenced to 9 to 23 months in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl. Richards pleaded guilty to a criminal attempt at intercourse or sexual contact with a student at school, criminal solicitation of such contact, unlawful contact with minors, and corruption of minors. The girl was one of the students and Richards showed her a typed message on his phone asking for a kiss on an upcoming field trip. The charges were waived as part of Richards' guilty plea.
