The Senate approved a measure by unanimous consent to prohibit preferential airport screening for members of Congress who bypass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening checkpoints. The measure aims to force Democratic colleagues to wait in the same long security lines as the public during the Department of Homeland Security shutdown, which has now lasted 35 days. The bill would prohibit TSA from using any funding to provide or facilitate the "expedited" passage through security screenings. If enacted, this would extend even once the Department Homeland Security reopens. The House would need to pass the bill and President Trump would have to sign it.
