Director Antoine Fuqua has questioned some of the allegations made against Michael Jackson, stating that "sometimes people do some nasty things for some money". The film was forced to undergo extensive reshoots to overhaul its structure, which included the police raid on Neverland Ranch after Jackson was accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. These scenes were removed due to a clause in the Jackson estate's settlement preventing any mention of Chandler in any movie. Fuqua also questioned the accusers' parents, particularly Chandler's father, who threatened to humiliate Jackson. The new version of "Michael" ends with Jackson at the height of his career and centers on family tension between Jackson and his father Joe.
