Ohio toy designer tied with iconic pop culture character dies

Roger Sweet, the toy designer behind the iconic He-Man character and the "Masters of the Universe" franchise, has died at the age of 91 after a battle with dementia. Born in 1935, Sweet studied at Miami University and the Illinois Institute of Technology before joining Mattel, where he worked as a lead designer in the company's preliminary design department. He is also credited with developing the concept and early prototype for He-Norfolk.
