A federal court case over President Trump's plan to build a massive ballroom on the site of the former East Wing of the White House has revealed a hidden military bunker under the proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom. The new Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) is being overhauled underground, with the president stating that the military is building a complex under the ballroom due to a lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation alleging that the public had not had an opportunity to review the plans. The National Guard also expressed concerns about the secrecy of the project, which has bulletproof glass and “drone-proof” roofs and ceilings. Despite this, a federal judge halted construction this week, Trump maintains he has the constitutional authority to move forward without congressional approval.
