The cancellation of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" sequel series, "Angel," has been disappointing for fans who have been waiting for a return to Sunnydale since the show ended in 2003. However, there is a potential spin-off idea that could resurrect the franchise: "Fray," an eight-issue comic book series written by Joss Whedon and published from 2001 to 2003 by the show's creator, which followed a Slayer named Melaka Fray who battled the vampire hordes in a 23rd-century version of New York City. The series was unique and original, with multiple elements of the show itself and could be adapted into a TV series based on this idea. However it would provide opportunities for fans to bring back fan-favorite characters. A TV series could also be animated event series.
