Artificial intelligence (AI) has been met with backlash, with some concerned about job losses, environmental concerns, and increased utility bills due to its high demand. However, these reactions stem from the overselling of AI and its ability to control it. AI is not superhuman nor is it superintelligent, but it is fast processing of vast amounts of data. The author argues that it is wise to question the "intelligence" of machines, the "knowledge" they produce, and the limits of their technology. AI will expand human knowledge only if human users are encouraged to question its results and processes, and functions. Despite this, AI errors, hallucinations, and political bias are common.
