Delta Air Lines will discontinue offering food and beverage service on 450 daily flights from May 19, affecting about 9% of the airline's flights. The change will affect shorter flights, 349 miles or less, but first-class passengers will still receive full service. The move is seen as an attempt to create a more consistent experience across Delta's network. Since 2015, Delta has not offered food and drink service on flights under 250 miles, expanding this to include flights between 350 and 499 miles. The airline will now offer full food and beverages service on 350 miles or more for Delta Comfort and Delta Main Cabin passengers, a change from the previous policy which only provided express service for flights between 250 and 499m. The decision has sparked controversy among passengers on social media, with many linking it to Spirit Airline's shutdown.
