Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has promised to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in the country amid the US and Israel's war. This announcement was made during a call with senior members of China's central committee and his counterpart, Wang Yi, who expressed concern over the situation in Iran. Despite the recent US and Israeli attacks, China has maintained close relations with Iran and has granted Iran membership in BRICS+ and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The countries signed a 25-year strategic agreement in 2021 and more than 80 percent of Iran's shipped oil in 2025 went to China.
