Bitcoin tests $72,000 again as rising leverage hints at volatility ahead: Crypto Markets Today

Bitcoin BTC $ 71,511.44 rose 1.2% after midnight UTC, mirroring gains in U.S. equities. This follows oil's retreat below $100 per barrel after President Donald Trump proposed a plan to end the Iran war. The top 10 tokens, including BTC and ETH, all registered increases of 4% or more in futures open interest in the past 24 hours. However, Bitcoin's 30-day implied volatility index, BVIV, dropped for a third straight day, indicating a waning geopolitical risk premium. The CoinDesk Computing Select Index (CPUS) rose by 1.9% and the bitcoin-heavy CoinDesk 20 gained 0.9%. However, privacy coins XMR and ZEC fell by around 1% each.
