NASA's No. 1 guy, Jared Isaacman, defended the Artemis II mission's $23 million toilet, stating that the astronauts know they're lucky to have a better alternative. The suction-based titanium throne was initially jammed after its launch, but has since been cleared for use again. The toilet uses suction technology to transfer feces into a canister, while urine is flushed out into outer space. Despite reports of a mystery burning smell while using the lunar loo, Isaacman said the astronauts were well-prepared for the situation. He also highlighted the need to address the issue of the second-most expensive space toilet developed.
