Newly acquired safety Minkah Fitzpatrick aims to bring consistency to the Jets defense, following their poor defense in the 2025 season. The Jets' defense was ranked 25th in yards allowed and the first team in NFL history to finish an entire season with zero interceptions. Fitzpatrick was traded to the team in exchange for a seventh-round pick after the Dolphins were set to release him. He signed a three-year, $40 million contract with the Jets after having one year, $15.6 million remaining on his previous extension with the Steelers. Fitzpatrick's best season was 2022, when he finished with 96 tackles, 11 pass deflections and six interceptions. He will join a revamped Jets safety group after last year's starters, Andre Cisco and Tony Adams, both became free agents.
