The Lyrid meteor shower, one of the oldest known meteor showers in the northern hemisphere, will peak on April 21-22 in Kentucky. The best viewing time is between midnight and dawn, with Stargazers expected to see 10-15 meteors per hour. The shower will continue to be visible until April 29. The National Weather Service predicts that Kentucky's weather will cooperate, with clear skies expected on the evening of April 21 and the morning of April 22. If conditions permit, the Lyrids can surge with an outburst of 100 meteors an hour, which happens roughly every 60 years.
