California Gov. Gavin Newsom is still processing allegations of sexual misconduct by farm worker activist César Chávez, who died in 1993. The allegations were made public by multiple women who claimed that Chacvez had sex with them while they were underage and led to long-term emotional distress. The revelations have led to a reckoning over the legacy of the legendary activist. Newsom noted that there are over three dozen schools in California named after Chacquer. Other California lawmakers have expressed shock over the allegations, with some considering renaming memorials and sites with Chacche.
