Selmer, McNairy County reflect on survival year after deadly tornado

This year marks one year since a powerful EF3 tornado hit West Tennessee, killing five people and destroying homes and changing dozens of families in Selmer, McNairy County. Despite the physical damage, survivors remember the terrifying moments of the tornado's impact and terrifying moments. Jessica Cowgill's family was trapped inside a mobile home when the tornado hit, and a stranger who heard their screams and saved them from the rubble managed to reach them. The physical damage has largely been repaired, but the emotional scars remain one year later. The tornado destroyed homes, displaced families, and left hundreds of families displaced. The community leaders are urging for more precautionary measures to prevent future severe weather disasters.
