Arsenal defender Gabriel should have been sent off for violent conduct in a match against Manchester City, according to the Premier League's key match incidents panel. However, the panel argued that the incident did not meet the threshold for a video assistant referee (VAR) intervention. Gabriel had been involved in a physical altercation with City's Erling Haaland in the 82nd minute. The VAR, John Brooks, backed Gabriel's actions, ruling that his actions were not excessively aggressive or violent. The panel also unanimously ruled that Taylor was correct not to send off City defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
