The Evanston Reparations Committee has opened its Black Business Grant Program, a program designed to assist local businesses that have historically faced barriers to capital and commercial growth due to systemic divestment. The grants will cover operational costs, infrastructure improvements, and marketing efforts aimed at long-term sustainability. Applicants must be Black residents of Evanston who currently own or are launching a business within the city limits. The program also offers "operational readiness" training to help business owners navigate regulatory compliance and effectively scale their operations. However, applicants who have previously received funding from the committee are not eligible.
