The Boston Red Sox has announced that its top young player, Marcelo Mayer, will not be in the Opening Day lineup for the upcoming season. Instead, Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at second base, ahead of Mayer due to the Reds starting left-hander Andrew Abbott. The rest of the team is expected to be largely unchanged, with Roman Anthony leading the way in left field, Trevor Story at shortstop, Jarren Duran as the designated hitter and Willson Contreas at first base.
