Director John Carney, known for his music-driven films such as Once and Sing Street, has landed "Inscrutable" Nick Jonas for his latest film, "Power Ballad." The film, which is set to be released in limited release on May 29 before expanding nationwide on June 5. The character that inspired the film was a 40-something dad in a Dublin suburb, Rick, who was wearing leather boots and carrying a guitar. Carney, along with co-writer Peter McDonald, created Rick, a onetime touring rocker who met his wife and daughter and a new gig as the frontman to a modestly successful wedding band. The film is about the second chances made possible by music and the struggle of first bands.
