Mentor's Division I regional semifinal girls basketball game against Canton McKinley ended in overtime, with a 44-40 overtime win. The win puts Mentor (24-1) into the regional championship game on March 7, marking the first time Mentor has reached a regional final since 2004. The only senior on Mentor's roster, Nina Rodriguez, gave her team an insurmountable lead with six seconds left in the clock. Despite being shut out over the final 3:03 of regulation, Mentor regained possession with 1:21 left and ran nearly all the time off the clock with a slick game of keep-away. McKinley's performance was largely attributed to a strong defense and win.
