Hot Wheels: Here are the cities where your car is most likely to be ripped off

The US cities where vehicle theft is most rampant have been identified as Oakland, California, and St. Louis. The study used stats and data from 2025 from the FBI, National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Highway Loss Data Institute to identify Oakland as the riskiest city for car owners. The city, run by Democrat Mayor Barbara Lee, has lost its football and baseball teams, and 1,459 cars per every 100,000 residents have been stolen. St. L. Louis is the second-worst city for auto theft, with 1,172 vehicles per 100,00 people robbed. Minneapolis has the third-highest rate of car thefts, with Minneapolis accounting for 1,141 stolen vehicles per every 1000,000 people. Despite the national decline, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and New York State have experienced the largest spikes in car thefts since 2019.
