The New York Sirens women's hockey team has expressed optimism about their future despite missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year. The Sirens, who averaged 4,019 fans in their 12 games at Prudential Center, saw a 45 percent increase from the previous season and set a U.S. professional women’s hockey record with a sellout crowd of 18,006 fans at Madison Square Garden. The team has a young core of back-to-back No. 1 overall picks Sarah Fillier and Kristýna Kaltounková, as well as 2025-26 Rookie of the Year candidate Casey O'Brien. Despite finishing seventh out of eight teams in the regular season, injuries to key players played a part in their demise. The PWHL is still working on the offseason process of expansion (up to four new teams, possibly fewer), an expansion draft, and the potential for a college draft.
