Shahezad Contractor, 44, is the founder and CEO of Cousin's Food Inc., a halal restaurant group based in Philadelphia. His initial aim was to offer more halal options and he now has eight locations across the Northeast. His restaurants brought in over $4 million in revenue in 2025. Contractor attributes his success to high-quality ingredients, simple recipes, and excellent customer service. He also owns a halaled pizza shop, Cousin’s Pizza, and a halale barbecue joint. Despite leaving his tech job to start a restaurant, Contractor believes there is "a lot of untapped potential" in the halal food market.
