Miami Beach Police has caught a motorcycle thief, Miguel Cotto, thanks to the use of their drone surveillance system. The drone identified the motorcycle's license plate as matching a reported stolen motorcycle and alerted officers on the ground of its location. Once alerted, the suspect began driving erratically and attempting to evade police. Cotto was later arrested and faces several charges including grand theft, fleeing and eluding authorities, and resisting arrest. The technology was instrumental during high-demand weekends for Miami Beach, particularly during spring break.
