35-year survivor celebrates milestone as Race for the Cure turns Durham pink

Laura Wickwar, a 35-year breast cancer survivor, has celebrated her milestone as Durham Bulls Athletic Park turns pink for the 30th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in the Triangle. This year's event will feature new pre- and post-race celebrations. Wickwar was struck by the increase in survivor photos since the first year of the race in 1996, reflecting advances in research and advocacy. She now uses her experience to advocate for other women to speak up and get help if they notice minor symptoms.
