Google’s Liz Reid has discussed the complexity of AI Search, particularly with the fragmentation of complex queries into smaller ones and the concept, Browsy Queries. She highlighted user behavior patterns in search, suggesting that users often prefer using multiple platforms over one, rather than one. She also highlighted that there are a significant number of users who use multiple AI products across different search surfaces. These patterns can be defined as Informational Queries on Classic Search and AI Mode, Creative Queries, or AI Mode Direct. However, queries that originate on AI Mode tend to be complex, what was traditionally called longtail. These queries have been identified as exploration and are often referred to as browsy queries. The phrase is also used in a Google job description for a commerce software engineer, placing the phrase in the context of shopping queries.
