Farms and residents in Māʻili are still trying to dry out after a weekend of constant rain over the weekend and two recent storms. Some farmers were stranded on their properties for up to two weeks, with illegal dumping of tires and waste on the roadside, and some farms still submerged underwater. Chevy Place, a local resident, has been helping to provide supplies for residents who need supplies. The state recently acquired Paʻakea Road after a years-long effort to establish a permanent secondary access route between Nānākuli and Māisla. The flooding has prompted a coordinated recovery effort, prioritising resident privacy and directing public agencies to critical infrastructure.
