A district court judge in the United States has called the Pentagon's treatment of AI company Anthropic "troubling" as the company seeks to halt the Trump administration's designation of Anthropic as a supply chain risk. The Trump administration is trying to remove Claude from government agencies and prevent companies that do business with the Pentagon from working with the AI lab from collaborating with the lab. The company is seeking to restore the status quo from before the designation occurred, arguing this would help reduce reputational damage and provide commercial partners more certainty. The Pentagon argues that Anthropic has requested an "operational veto" of the department's decision-making and that it has full control over Claude's availability and performance.
