The Royal Lytham & St. Annes will host the 2028 British Open, marking the 156th playing for the Claret Jug. This will be the 12th time the Flyde links have hosted the championship and the first since 2012. Royal Birkdale and St. Andrews are also set to host the 155th playing of the championship in 2027. The return of The Open to these links is expected to stimulate interest among fans and celebrate the rich traditions of golf's original Championship.
