Johnny Pemberton's new film, "Mermaid," is a love letter to Florida, expressing its unique nature and cultural diversity. Pemperton plays Doug, a man who finds a renewed purpose when he discovers a real live mermaid. The film was directed by Tyler Cornack, who he believes captures the essence of Florida. Despite his upbringing in Florida, Pemberon is a born and bred Minnesotan who has a Protestant upbringing and a strong work ethic. He also recently recorded his one-man show, "Minnesota Reggae Colostomy Bag," about his personal struggles with ulcerative colitis and having a colon removed 20 years ago.
