Kash Patel Admits the FBI is Buying Private Data on Americans

FBI Director Kash Patel and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard were grilled at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing in Washington D.C. where they faced questions about the new war in Iran. Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, asked whether the FBI still purchases commercial database information that includes location data derived from internet advertising. Patel responded that the FBI purchases commercially available information consistent with the Constitution and the laws under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. Wyden responded by saying that collecting such data on Americans is an "outrageous" end run around the Fourth Amendment. It is technically legal for the federal government to buy location data from third party brokers, including sensitive data on American citizens, without a warrant.
