President Donald Trump is using his tariff playbook against Iran, which he previously threatened to shut off critical exports to China and raise tariffs on Chinese goods to regain lost American leverage. In response, he has escalated the threat to 11, demand the world, and settle for more than America started with. This strategy has not worked, leading to enduring economic pain for consumers and potentially leading to a deadly war that has cost lives of thousands. So far, threats against Iran have not been successful, with Brent oil futures surging 8% to $103 a barrel and oil prices potentially rising above $120, testing four-year highs. However, analysts predict that a potential war with Iran could drag oil prices further further.
