Somerville Launches DeRATification Week To Help Tackle Rodent Problem

Somerville, Massachusetts, has launched DeRATification Week, which aims to help residents and businesses in the city's rat problem by providing new tools, updated resources, and clearer guidance. The campaign includes an online rodent service request system, a free property inspection system, and free rodent control services. The city has also updated its public SMART Box dashboard to show where city-owned smart traps are being used and where activity is being detected. Additionally, the city has redesigned its rodent control webpage with updated resources and a multilingual resource library. The initiative is particularly important in a city with many renters.
