Florida attorney general says NFL must get rid of Rooney Rule

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has challenged the NFL's Rooney Rule, calling for it to be suspended or face possible civil rights action. The rule, which requires teams to interview external minority candidates for specific positions, is considered "blatant race and sex discrimination" by Uthymeier. He also sent a letter to the owners of the NFL’s three Florida-based teams. The chair of the league's diversity, equity and inclusion committee, Art Rooney II, acknowledged that the NFL has an obligation to ensure that its policies comply with existing laws.
