Legendary folk singer and songwriter Joni Mitchell made a rare public appearance at the Juno Awards in Canada, where she received a lifetime achievement award. She appeared alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and called him a "blessing". Other notable moments included Mae Martin, a non-binary comedian and actor who returned to Canada after touring the U.S. for a comedy show, presenting a video cover of her hit song "Promiscuous." Nelly Furtado was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The Juno Fan Choice Award went to Canadian rapper Alexander Leon Gumuchian. The Beaches all-women rock band won for best group of the year.
