Lucas Andrews, the new director of agronomy for the TPC Sawgrass, took over in October after one of the coldest winters on record on the First Coast. He faced a challenge to prepare the Players Stadium Course for The Players Championship, March 12-15, due to recent warm weather. Andrews, a 37-year-old native of Portsmouth, England, has been working at the Sawgrass since 2010 as an intern. He replaces Jeff Plotts, who oversaw the move of The Players from May to March, with the overseeded grass. Andrews has enlisted help from overseas and around 50 golf turf students to help prepare the course.
