Starbucks rival launches coffee shops in cult favorite chain

British coffee brand Costa is expanding across the U.S. through a partnership with roadside travel center chains Buc-ee's, a Texas-based chain of mega-gas stations. The partnership involves installing automated Costa Coffee machines across its stores, giving travelers more options and helping it compete with traditional coffee chains like Starbucks. The move comes as Costa's Smart Café machines are being introduced following its acquisition by The Coca-Cola Company (KO) for $4.9 billion. The exact date of the expansion began is unclear.
