Conservative advocacy group Empower Oversight has accused big tech firms of blocking ads for a documentary about alleged corruption by the Biden family. The group raised concerns about potential censorship to leaders in Congress a week ago. The documentary, "Shielded by Power: The Whistleblowers vs. The Big Guy," covers how social media companies in 2020 censored a story about Hunter Biden's laptop with negative information about then-presidential candidate Joe Biden. The groups are using crowdfunding to cover the cost of production and direct people to their website through ads on Google, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Empower oversight's President, Tristan Leavitt, has written to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, three House committee chairmen, and three House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith, seeking an investigation into whether viewpoint discrimination is involved.
