California Gov. Gavin Newsom's book tour, which includes stops in states he would likely need to secure the 2028 presidential nomination, has caused controversy among the Democratic base. The first major gaffe occurred during a speech in Atlanta, where Newsom said he struggles to read and shared a stage with Mayor Andre Dickens. Other Democrats, including Sen. Tim Scott on the right and Nina Turner and Cornel West, also criticized Newsom for his language of MAGA extremists.
