The Knicks defeated the Hawks 113-102 in their Game 1 Game 1 match at Madison Square Garden. The Hawks' 'Hack-a-Mitch' strategy was a staple given Mitchell Robinson's struggles at the free throw line. Despite Robinson being taken out of the game, coach Mike Brown countered by having him start the fourth quarter and preventing the Hawks from fouling him. This strategy allowed the Knicks to gain valuable points at the line. Karl-Anthony Towns' father, who was in attendance for the first time since March, was also present.
