A United States Air Force member who was missing behind enemy lines for more than 24 hours after his F-15E fighter jet was shot down in Iran has been rescued, according to President Donald Trump. The incident occurred over southwestern Iran, where the pilot and the weapons systems officer were able to escape. The rescue operation involved hundreds of special forces troops and military personnel, including dozens of U.S. warplanes and helicopters. This was the first time a US. military aircraft has been shot down inside Iran since the start of the Iran war. The Iranian military also claimed to have shot down an A-10 Warthog near the Strait of Hormuz.
