An Oregon-based lawyer, Billie Little, has filed a whistleblower suit against Thomson Reuters Corp. alleging she was fired due to allegations that the company's data tools were being used to compile and deliver sensitive personal information to federal immigration enforcement officers. Little was fired on March 20 following an internal investigation launched by Thomson Reuters, which is a technology and content conglomerate that owns the Reuters media agency. The suit alleges that Little and 169 other employees had urged the company’s leadership to halt its contracts with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and requested an all-hands meeting after learning about the company was providing ICE with investigative software to pull public and private information about individuals and to track license plates. The lawsuit seeks damages for Little's lost wages and benefits, as well as lost emotional stress.
