Netflix has produced a TV series based on William Golding's 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, about a group of British schoolboys who crash-landed on a deserted island. The series, which premiered on the BBC in February and is now streaming on Netflix, tells the story of a British group of boys who are forced to fend for themselves as leaders battle for power and allegiances form, leading to chaos on the island. While this is the first time this is being aired, the book has been adapted for film twice and influenced television indirectly, with shows such as Survivor and Lost borrowing elements from its plot.
