The President and CEO of the Indianapolis Zoo, Dr. Rob Shumaker, has resigned following a leave of absence following a period of personal reflection. The announcement was made in a press release by the zoo, thanking the Board for offering him a short leave to reflect on his personal issues and reflect on the institution's mission and future. Shumacher was previously reported to have been bitten by a chimpanzee while holding inappropriate foods. He also highlighted the progress of the zoo's largest capital campaign in its history and stated that it is time to create a new master plan that will take the Zoo at least 10 years into the future.
