National special-interest groups, including deep-pocketed cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence interests, have spent tens of millions of dollars influencing four Democratic congressional primaries in the Chicago area. The super PACs whose donors are not easily tracked have reported spending more than $31.4 million, including over $6.1 million on attack ads ahead of the primaries. The portions from the crypto, AI and pro-Israel groups totalling $26.9 million. This is far more than the last time the Chicago-area had seen an incumbent in the U.S. House primary races. Most of the super PAC money has come from a pro-Israeli group and the trillion-dollar cryptocurrency and AI industries.
