Control Resonant, a sequel to the first game of the Control series, has been released by Remedy and its creative director, Mikael Kasurinen, who have traded shooting for melee combat. The game's protagonist, Dylan Faden, now uses a shapeshifting sword called the Aberrant, while Jesse Faden uses a different weapon. Despite these changes, the game's combat still feels familiar, with last-minute dodges, well-timed violence, and explosive debris still felt familiar with the game. The sequel, which also includes an improved map and improved gameplay design, features an "open-ended world" instead of an open world. Despite the shift from shooting to melee gameplay, the player is encouraged to stay on the move and navigate complicated situations. The next game will be called Control 2, with more detailed interior locations and gameplay details.
