Cavaliers prioritizing 3-point defense as playoffs finally arrive

The Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing for the playoffs, with coach Kenny Atkinson focusing on 3-point defense. The team with the highest payroll in the NBA at $212,345,289 is set to play against the Toronto Raptors on April 18. Despite being healthy with key players Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, Atkinson believes the team must increase their defense in the playoffs. The Cavs ranked 26th defensively in 2025-26, with opponents converting 1,163 3-points against them. Despite this, no other teams that allowed a higher success rate are in the postseason.
