A lawsuit has been filed by music publishing companies Theodore Presser and Carl Fischer against Albert Ahronheim, the composer of the University of Michigan's iconic "Let's Go Blue" marching band anthem. The lawsuit alleges that Ahronhem wrongly removed the song from Electronic Arts' College Football video game series. The case was brought after Presser & Fischer secured a lucrative synch deal with EA in 2024 to place the song in College Football, which became the all-time best-selling sports video game in the U.S. However, when Ahonheim began to assert that he owned the song's composition rights, he allegedly demanded that EA either buy a license from him directly or remove “Let’s Go Blue” from College Football. The dispute stems from the termination right, a tenet of copyright law that allows artists and songwriters to reclaim their work after 35 years.
