Pallante making strides with 8 strikeouts, effective slider

Cardiff manager Oliver Marmol credits the improvement in pitcher Patrick Pallante's ability to not let things snowball. Pallante, who has a career K/9 of 6.2, was successful in using his effective slider. His eight strikeouts on Friday matched a total he'd reached on only three previous occasions in the big leagues. The most strikeouts by a Cardinals starter in a game this season also occurred.
