Miami Gardens track coach convicted of sexually assaulting 13-year-old sentenced to 50 years in prison

Darius Lawshea, the founder of Miami Gardens Xpress Track & Field, has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student athlete. This case was brought before a jury in February and was centered on an incident where Lawsheas used his authority to sexually assault the victim. Other victims came forward following his arrest in 2020. Lawshean, known as "Coach D," has been charged with six other cases yet to go to trial.
